Volunteer Opportunities

Our members contribute to the community in many ways. Here are some opportunities for volunteering.

Atlanta CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is an organization that recruits volunteers to be special friends to children and teens in foster care.  The advocate establishes a long-term relationship with the client. In a world of revolving door foster placements, the testimony of the advocate is valued highly in making decisions about the child/teens future.  Other tasks are available for volunteering as well. You may contact Alma Owens at alma@owensemail.com for details.

The AMANI WOMEN CENTER responds to the needs of women refugees from Africa, Afghanistan and many other war-torn conflicted nations from which people have fled.  Our volunteers are involved in the very successful Sewing Academy, they teach one-on-one ESL, and they are involved in services addressing medical needs resulting from genital mutilation/cutting.  In general, our members are available to listen, to support, to educate, to guide and most importantly to care.  AWC offers a Showroom where handmade items are available for sale.  Financial support for scholarships to the Sewing Academy is helpful.  Should you wish to be involved in this important work, please contact Doris Mukangu at Doris.amaniwomencenter@gmail.com
